Common questions

Answers before you write in.

What does MileMatrix cost?

Pricing is being finalised ahead of the App Store release. This page will be updated with the details before launch, for both the app and Fleet Manager.

What is the difference between MileMatrix and Fleet Manager?

MileMatrix is the app on your phone and it works completely on its own. Fleet Manager is an optional web dashboard that collects records from several phones into one workspace, for a business or a household with more than one driver.

Do I need Fleet Manager to use the app?

No. The app is standalone. It keeps everything on your phone and can back up to your own Google Sheets and Drive without any workspace involved.

Which iPhones does it run on?

MileMatrix requires iOS 17 or later. An Android version is planned but is not available yet.

Why does it ask for motion and location access?

Automatic trip detection needs both to recognise that you have started driving and to record where the trip began and ended. If you decline, the app still works and you can enter trips yourself, but nothing will be logged automatically.

A trip was missed or recorded twice. Can I fix it?

Yes. Trips can be edited or deleted in the app, and you can add a trip manually if one was missed. Automatic detection depends on iOS motion data, so a very short drive or a phone left behind can occasionally be missed.

The receipt scan read a number wrong.

Every scanned value is shown for you to check before it is saved, so correct it there. Faded thermal paper and creased receipts are the usual cause. A flat receipt in good light scans best.

Can one vehicle use kilometres while another uses miles?

Yes. Distance and volume units are set per vehicle. You can run one vehicle in kilometres and litres and another in miles and US or Imperial gallons, which is the point if you drive across the border.

Do I have to connect Google Sheets?

No. Sync is optional. Without it, your records stay on your iPhone. With it, each vehicle gets its own spreadsheet in your Google account and receipt photos back up to your Drive.

How do I disconnect Google?

Disconnect the account in MileMatrix settings, and revoke the app's access in your Google account security settings. Files already written stay in your Google account until you delete them.

If I connect to my employer's workspace, what can they see?

The records your app uploads: trips, receipts, maintenance, inspections, and the vehicles they belong to. Vehicle location appears where location sharing is on. Disconnecting stops further uploads, but what was already uploaded stays with the workspace until its owner removes it.

How does it work out fuel quality per station?

Each fill-up records the odometer reading, so the distance a tank covered is measured from one fill to the next rather than estimated. The app divides that distance by the volume you put in and attributes the result to the station you bought from. After a few tanks you can see which stations your vehicle returns the best economy on, next to what you paid per unit at each.

Which countries does the recall check cover?

VIN decoding and open recall lookups work for Canada, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the wider European market. A vehicle imported from one of those markets still reports correctly when you check it from another.

What languages is the app available in?

English, Français, Español, Deutsch, Português, Italiano, and Nederlands. The app follows your device language where it is one of those.

There is a radio player in the app?

Yes. You can browse stations by country, genre, region, or name, and it recommends stations for the country you are currently in. The countries follow the languages the app is available in, and the genres cover news, talk, sports, and music. Save the stations you use most as favourites and they stay one tap away on the Dash screen, playing while a trip records itself. It is there because an app you have already got open is an app that captures the drive properly, and because swapping stations should not mean leaving the app mid-drive.

Can I change how the app looks?

Yes. Several colour themes ship with the app, and you can build your own if none of them suit you.

Is it safe to store my licence and insurance in the app?

Those documents are stored on your device with your other records. They leave it only when you share them yourself, or when Google Sheets sync or a Fleet Manager connection is turned on and covers them. If you would not want a document in your Google Drive or in your employer's workspace, do not store it in the app.

What does the accident reporting feature do?

It walks you through gathering what an insurer will ask for while you are still at the scene, and keeps it together as one record you can share as a document afterwards.

Will Siri log a fill-up without asking me?

No. A fill-up is a financial record, so MileMatrix reads the details back and waits for you to confirm before saving.

Can I use the reports for a tax claim?

The app produces a mileage and fuel log you can give to an accountant, and it can apply a per-distance rate to show a value. That figure is a calculation, not tax advice, and actual-expense claims can work out differently. Confirm the rules that apply where you file.
